The race, organized by the Hellenic Offshore Sailing Club, will begin on July 4, 2021 and run continuously through July 10 over 600 miles.

The race will open in Sounio, near the Temple of Homer, and opposite the pillars of the Temple of Poseidon. The boats will sail to Milos, the home of Venus. Thence to the Gate which is in the magnificent Caldera of Santorini. From here the competitors will continue towards the southernmost island of the Aegean Sea, Kassos, and will overtake Karpathos and Rhodes on the left. From there they will take a course to Kandelioussa and pass it on its right side and then pass Kos, Kalymnos, Leros, and Patmos when they are on their left.

Another gate will be between Mykonos and Dilos, Apollo’s birthplace. And from there to the finish they will pass Kea on the left and return to the finish point in Sounio.

Undoubtedly much to suffice in six days. The sailing community was faithfully represented by Yehuda Altman and Chris Sleeney, equipped with three Go-Pro cameras and other media, we can expect live reports from the race itself. The team embarked on a competitive Pogo-36 boat and will equip it before heading out for the race.

Turku Yacht Club represents the home ground of Swan owners who have hosted three previous Swan sailing competitions. In 2006 on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Turku Yacht Club, in 2012 and again in 2016 on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Nautor’s Swan. With an impressive attendance of more than 100 yachts in the event, with 31 yachts already registered.

With a heavy heart, Nautor’s Swan and Turku Yacht Club have jointly decided to postpone the event to the summer of 2021.

“It was not an easy decision to make, but right now we feel it is the right thing to do,” says Giovanni Fumetti, CEO of Nautor Holdings. That we all waited for him. “Unfortunately, given the current situation and the uncertainty in the world, the general mood and our goal not to endanger the health and safety of our guests, have led us to this important decision.”

“The state of the corona virus in Finland is still under control, I hope it will not change in the near future” says Smoly Salantra, Commodore of the Turku Yacht Club. “Turku has always been the home of the Swans in the Baltic Sea and we feel the need to host the cruise in the best conditions, and this is not the right time. We will surely celebrate the Swan spirit properly next year.”
