This is the largest port city in the Canaries, here you can find all the services for yachts, from maintenance services to equipment and even find a crew for crossing. Not surprisingly, the marina was chosen to be the ARC’s staging point and springboard. It can be tied to a marina at a reasonable cost or anchored outside the marina, but in the port area, north of the inner voucher. Please note that during the late summer months, there is a limit on mooring time instead of ship due to high demand.

The mooring in the floating pier in parts is not safe. In summer at the height of the season, it is not possible to moor Long side and it is necessary to moor Mediterranean with an anchor and tie stern to the pier. The seabed on the west side (port side) is rocky and there are submarine chains and cables that need to be taken care of so that the anchor does not get entangled in them. There is no water and electricity and depending on the mooring it is free. There is a wave of traffic of ferries and commercial tourist boats, but at night it stops. The village is beautiful, entering the small alleys will reveal houses built on the waterfront. A higher climb to the tall houses will reveal a pastoral and picturesque landscape.

Agios Nikolaos, Crete

A great sailing area of Crete, between the marina and countless bays you can spend an entire season here. The marina is neat and pleasant, and there is a sailing culture during the summer with organized activities. Yacht services are limited but basic work can be done.

The town provides many services and this is a good point to get organized and go on a tour of the island.

Chania, Crete, Greece

Parking is a small port town on the northwest coast of Crete, places are limited but there is usually no congestion in the area, even in season. The wharf is urban so the prices are reasonable, you can connect to electricity and water.

You can anchor in soda, a large bay protected east of a parking lot, be careful not to anchor near the shipping lane or near the ferry terminal.

These are good places to leave the ship and set out to explore the western side of the island.

Yesterday at the end of the visit to Chiapas, Mexico we returned to Guatemala. This morning we continued
Quetzaltenango (Spanish: Quetzaltenango, also known as Xelaj ú) is the second largest city in Guatemala, after Guatemala City, and the capital of Quetzaltenango Province. The city is located at an altitude of 2500 meters above sea level. In the period before the Spanish conquest, the city belonged to the Maya and was named after it during the Spanish conquest it was then at least 300 years old. In the area of 1520 the conqueror Pedro de Alvarado conquered the city with the help of Indian allies, and named the city in their language, in the Navatl language, Quettenango. Although it became the official name of the city, many, especially the Indians, continued to call it by its original name.
Between 1838 and 1840, the city was the capital of Los Altos, part of the Federal Republic of Central America. When the latter disbanded, the Guatemalan army led by Rafael Carrera conquered Los Altos. In 1850 the city had about 20,000 inhabitants.
During the 19th century coffee growing became a major industry in the local economy that grew because of it. Katsaltenango is an important economic and industrial center in Guatemala. In addition to the industry, the city’s economy relies on agriculture from fields in the area, where coffee, corn, sesame seeds and rice are grown, among other things.
On the way to her town (Katsaltenango) we visited villages where the Mayans live.

Ayia Napa Marina

The new marina is located in the western part of Aya Nefa outside the city.
There are about 380 moorings. Average depth of 4-5 meters.
Around the marina, a number of real estate centers are being built with two tall apartment buildings and a number of residential villas.
The costs are similar to the new marina in Limassol where an annual, monthly cost or even a bid over three days will lower the costs.
For a boat about 44 feet in size the cost will be around 100 euros per day.

Marina in an excellent location in the center of the Mediterranean, offers excellent protection for all seasons, and an airport 5 minutes drive, makes the location very comfortable. You can moor outside the marina, just pay attention to the shallow area in the southeast corner of the dock. Can be moored free of charge on the municipal wharf, side ties or Mediterranean mooring with anchor.
