On June 8, 1967, on the fourth day of the Six Day War, the American intelligence ship “Liberty” was attacked off al-Arish by Air Force planes and Navy torpedo boats.
\nThe ship was heavily damaged and 34 crew members were killed.
\nSince then, allegations have been made that the incident was caused maliciously. Our lecture is based on the book by Col. (Dim) of the U.S. Navy, Dr. A. Kristol, “Liberty Incident – Concluding Inquiry,” which proves without a shadow of a doubt that the attack was made inadvertently.
\nWhat actually caused the incident? A series of failures on both sides, or as Kristol wrote – was enough guilt to divide CWL.
\nIn the lecture we will address these failures; Failures that can happen, and happen, even today.
\nThe presentation will include photographs, maps, drawings, excerpts of documents (including diaries of operations), and recordings of communications by H.A. and H.I.<\/p>\n
